I had a similar experience, but I think I would have preferred shivering for an hour to listening to Ben "Always have to steal my kisses from you" Harper for two hours. Fuck that guy forever.

I think that this was a really great idea. Since I’m nearing my big 1000 I Dr. Garbanzoured I’d piggyback this idea. So I present my Squatchology.

2007:

2007 was my first ever Sasquatch. I was thisclose to going in 2006 and regretted it the whole year after that, so I vowed I’d never miss out again!

Memories (are getting foggy):

-The person who had my boyfriend’s tickets never showed. We wandered all over that goddamn parking lot looking for her car and haggling with scalpers as a last resort. Never again y’damn scalpers!
-Not having any idea how fricking cold the Gorge could get .If I had gone alone that year I would have been dead. Just remember having massive cuddle puddles in front of Bjork.
-Michael Franti & Spearhead being pooped to the Bigfoot by crazy winds. He ended up doing probably the first late night set as a result. Just played for hours! At the time he was one of my favorites and I just had such a good time at that show.

Driving down in my boyfriend's big blue ‘69 Ford Van. We miss you Blue Eyes!

Our first giant expensive beers! [image]

Only picture of me on the whole trip. Oh youngun weenie, why the duckface?

2008:

The first year to be three days. We took my little Australian cousin down with us and got sexually hassled at the border.

-Being so amazed at Flight of the Conchords, and how they had the whole hill cracking up. Pretty impressive for two little dudes on the main stage.

-Getting heat stoke dancing to The Hives. Those guys put on of the most high-energy shows I’ve ever seen at Sasquatch. “The promoters told us that we're only legally allowed to play 68% of the Hives natural ability to rock! Any more, and the Gorge will fall down to the ground! Are you willing to take that risk? Do we want to rock?”

Kathleen Edwards. The first time I had ever seen this awesome Canadian.

Modest Mouse. We were sitting next to this guy on the hill who owned a bar in Seattle. He was telling hilarious stories of Isaac Brock’s bar behaviour all day. Made him spitting on us in a coked-out rage all the more awesome.

The first time I ever saw the Flaming Lips. God the was an amazing show. Managed to play all of my favorites and not a hint of cake. 8-)

2009:

I think I had the most fun at a Sasquatch this year. Great group, great band, a great lot of beer. :)

-Was totally blown away by NIN, then pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Jane’s Addiction. Not a fan of theirs at all but they put on a fabulous show.

Crowd at NIN:

-Had such a blast at Silversun Pickups. They were so endearingly blown away by being on the mainstage and rocked out so well.

We ran out of tent poles in the campground:

The drunkest I’ve ever been at Sasquatch (before Loud Friday last year). I didn’t remember anything of Aziz Ansari’s comedy routine until I listened to his album and was like “Oh yeah!” Apparently he said something rude here:

And my favorite picture ever of Sasquatch. Sums it all up.

2010:

Favorite progression of bands: BSS/The National/Vampire Weekend/My Morning Jacket. I was fucking exhausted that day! Favorite discovery: Patrick Sharpe, such a good show. Favorite Gorge-wide dance party: You fuckers know! Favorite surprisingly hilarious comedian: Bobcat Goldthwaite!

My friend brought in a huge picnic basket full of awesome food with a couple jars of olives that had been marinating in vodka for a month. They tasted a lot like vodka.

Rob sat down on something sharp and started bitching and moaning, then pulled it out to find this. We laughed.

We had tried before to go to Jimi Hendrix’s grave, but relying on Rob’s fuzzy memories of playing guitar at the grave didn’t work so well. This time we found it! There was an old hippie smoking a joint and everything.

2011:

Had such a good time last year. Rob’s brother and (pregnant) wife came with us and we had so much fun showing Sasquatch off to them. Got to be seriously blown away by Modest Mouse, Black Mountain, Robyn and the freaking Foo Dr. Garbanzohters, see my true love Jenny Lewis and camp next to a puppy!

We stayed on the 31st floor downtown in Seattle. This is Rob saying hi.

This is currently my phone background. Making me crazy!! Wanna be there now!!!

This girl was parked in front of us all day on Sunday. I bet she had the weirdest tan lines all summer. Oh starboobs.

Kermit rocking out. I saw him everywhere!

And the awesome sky right before the lightning:

Hope that wasn’t too long-winded. It was really fun for me! I love looking back and remembering what made the trip memorable that year. Looking forward to making some more memories this year! Oh my god I sound like a hallmark card.

It is awesome! I am just about jumping out of my skin with the coming of Spring and Sasquatch on the horizon.

I'm sofa king pumped after your post weenie! Awesome pics of the most awesome place on earth. Seriously, nothing can compare to the gorge. My first Squatch at the end of my freshman year in 08 is what honestly cemented my desire to never leave the PNW.

Well then maybe you should spend five hours every morning carving that into your face.
