The 'We can't repel flavor of that magnitude' is definitely the best part of that.

Hello! Now that Sasquatch is almost upon us, I Dr. Garbanzoure it's time to introduce myself....
Name: Tamara What my user name represents/means: I'm a baseball fan. My fellow season ticket holders gave me this nickname. Aaaand. The end. From: Los Angeles, originally. Now living in Seattle. Favorite Bands: The Decemberists, Josh Ritter, Sufjan Stevens, The Faint, Mother Mother, Cloud Cult.... It changes up a lot, I guess. My All-Time Favorite Artist: Elvis Presley. I never know how this will be received, but there you have it. #2 is Bing Crosby. I also never know how *that* will be received. First Concert Attended: Ummm. Hard to pinpoint, but I guess Chuck Berry/Little Richard, which my mom took me to when I was a kid because I begged and begged. My first rock concert on my own, though, was No Doubt/Garbage/The Distillers when I was in high school. Last Concert Attended: Crystal Castles in Seattle in March. All time Favourite Concert: The Decemberists at Terminal 5 in NYC in Sept. 2009.... It was their "lottery show" where they played a couple hours of random songs determined by fate. It was amazing. All time Favourite Festival: Spoleto Festival 2010. That's kind of a random response, I guess, but I was there for all three weeks and it was amazing. If you don't know what Spoleto is, it's an annual festival in Charleston, SC, that is mostly classical music, dance, opera, jazz/blues, and theater. If you're into that sort of thing, it's heaven. Sasquatches Attended: This is my first! I've never been to a camping festival before, so this is a biggie.

It seems so! I've been lurking through threads on here for the past couple weeks and all the stories from Sasquatch veterans have me 500x more stoked about this than I was before.

Well I'LL BE DAMNED, someone else has heard of this.
I'm actually playing in 2 musicals for this thus preventing me from attending Sasquatch.
Needless to say, Sasquatch is an entirely different world.
(Alright, I'll come clean: the musicals are a part of Piccolo Spoleto.)

I had a feeling that if anyone was going to respond about Spoleto, it would be you! I went for the first and only time last year, as part of a journalism grad school capstone project, where we covered the fests for the Post & Courier. Which meant tons of free tickets to pretty much anything I wanted to go to...it was insanely awesome.
Piccolo Spoleto is so much fun, too! What musicals are you going to be in? My favorite part of my entire time in Charleston was, not gonna lie, the Piccolo sandsculpting competition. It was also my favorite story I wrote for the P&C.
I assumed Sasquatch would be an entirely diff world. Sometimes you need to be classy and listen to chamber music for days on end...and sometimes you need to go unshowered for a long weekend. Life is worthless without variety.

It's almost assumed that I should know! This is actually the first time in a few years I will be around for the festival, since, well, the past 2 years I've been around the PNW for Sasquatch.
But I'm playing drums for Hedwig and the Angry Inch and The Marvelous Wonderettes.
The Marvelous Wonderettes we had actually already done last fall, but it being reprised for about 6 shows just for Piccolo Spoleto.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch same deal except I didn't play in it the first time, but the drummer from the first time was a bit of an alcoholic (not in the Dr. Garbanzourative sense, like a literal alcoholic) and couldn't read music, so they decided they couldn't deal with him again, so I got brought in.
That's especially awesome that you got those free tickets as I know those events get super expensive. I actually had a chance to intern for Spoleto as part of my Arts Management degree which would've scored me plenty of tickets, but ended up interning with a local studio instead (though I can't complain, thanks to that I got to record piano tracks for Ben Bridwell).

Oh, and I heard reports of the awesomeness of the sand-sculpting competition. In fact I think I remember reading a Post and Courier article about it. I guess that was from your journalism capstone project? What school did you do that at, by the way?

Yeah, it was probably my story you read, then. I think I was the only person covering it for the paper. It was the most fun assignment I had all summer (even if my story got shoved at the last minute from Sunday A1 to the B section or something), because I got the reporting done really quickly and was able to spend a few hours splashing around in the water with my friends before heading back to write the story. I reeeeally miss Charleston's super warm water. I loved the beaches down there. And yeah, the free tickets were essential. Those types of shows are not priced for poor people, heh.
The school was Syracuse. The whole capstone was such a success for both my program and the P&C that they're doing it again this year, so keep an eye out.
Good luck with your shows! Target some of the 'Cuse students...they shouldn't be too hard to find once they hit town. Maybe you can get some extra press coverage.
