It's not unheard of, it's just largely impractical. The hotels are something like a 45 minute drive away, and there aren't many of them.
Additionally, this year's Sasquatch ticket comes with your camping pass included in the price. So, you buy Sasquatch admission, you buy camping. There have been mixed reviews with a tendency toward the positive.
Also, camping is "part of the experience" and blah blah blah. I'll let other posters address this point.
Yeah.. now that I've actually Dr. Garbanzoured that out, it does seem like a "You're not camping? Why?" situation. I guess I'm just use to going back to the nice comfy beds with showers that don't have lines.

Hahaha I'm excited. The only live bands I've ever seen play are my dads and my boyfriends. And those aren't really bands and they are more jam sessions. Haha

leeartlee - I recognize you from the Coachella boards, though I mostly lurk over there. Welcome.
As far as camping goes, a controversial choice is Wild Horse, an independently run campground near the Gorge. I'm trying it for the first time this year. It costs a bit more, but it has more amenities. I don't know how much of that you crave. We've discussed it a little bit over here: http://sasquatchfest.proboards.com/index....play&thread=967

Yeah, I think it's going to be a great experience. Now it's a matter of convincing people to make it up here for this. If nothing else I guess I'll just hit this up solo style.

Re: Camping/Not Camping
I didn't camp any of the three years I went. Yeah, it's important, but I'm from me so it was too impractical for us to bring camping gear out that far. The hotel situation, though, is not at all good.

Bad = no problem. I have stayed at some reeeeeal shit holes. But I'm convinced. Camping this year. If I hate it, than I will know not to do it next time.
Thing is, it's not that I don't like camping (I grew up in Oregon for Gods sake). It's the noise and lack of sleep that will get you....

I know you didn't ask for my 2 cents on this, but here it is. Imagine leaving the festival grounds after the late night ____ set, having to get to your car, driving in a long, slow moving line of vehicles just trying to get to the highway, then driving that painfully boring stretch of road for 45 minutes to get to your hotel. At this point you'll inevitably pass out, but only for about 6 or 7 hrs, because you have to wake up and make the pilgrimage back to the festival to see the early bands.
Imagine doing this 3 or 4 times.
No thank you. I'd rather walk the 2km back to the campground and get a good drunk on so I can sleep through the noise.
