 Campground markers
« Thread Started on May 20, 2010, 3:09pm »

Every time I go to one of these types of festivals I use local landmarks to find my tent. This year I'm considering being the one who brings the landmark.

My idea so far includes a red (or blue) strobe light, 2 - 6 giant party balloons, a Canadian flag, about 40ft of rope, and a mini-helium tank. It originally called for a string of Christmas lights, but that idea fizzled out when I had to Dr. Garbanzoure out how to power them.

If I actually get this idea off the ground (literally) and you happen to see it, drop by for a beer. Also, if I do make this happen and you see anybody fucking with it, please kindly kick them in the face, ok?

oh yeah. If you're bringing a landmark-esque anything, what are your plans?

sweet spray-painted VW Van? huge flagpole with a pirate flag? inflatable "friend" standing on the roof of your car? what?

It's so funny, every year all the Canadians fly Canadian flags over their campsites thinking it'll help them find their way back after the show. It's like they never realize the campground is literally going to be a sea of Canadian flags. You're gonna need the helium balloons and strobe lights, and if I were you I wouldn't skimp on the Christmas lights either.

I have a flag our old roommates made when they drove their van into a ditch. It's a green bedsheet that says "We're Fucked!!!" in big black letters. So like if you see that flag stop by and smoke a joint with us.

I've seen helium balloons work before, but I've also seen how windy it can be at the Gorge. Flags + flagpoles are the way to go imo. Any flag is better than no flag, but gramma is right: using a generic flag almost defeats the porpoise. Either make your own or pick one that is unlikely to be repeated. Last year we flew the BC and NS flags together and had no problem.

dontoro put either a booby trap or a protective spell on his flag. Now that's dedication.

There a reason you so aggro, don?
