True that, will be interesting to see how the Gorgies handle the new system this year.

I'll be getting there soon after the grounds open on Thursday, any entertainment suggestions for that first night?

Unlike the Coachella campground (which comes with a carnival, skating rink, arcade, late night club, and countless other options), Sasquatch campers are pretty much (actually completely) left to fend for themselves and provide their own entertainment. It might not sound fun on paper, but when 20,000 drunk and high people are left to their own vices in the middle of a dark field things get pretty fucking wacky! Just start cracking beers as soon as you get there and see where the night takes ya. Once you're done setting up camp stroll around the grounds and get a feel for where some of the big parties might be taking place at. There are usually 3-4 different groups of people who bring a decent PA system and provide loud music for people to dance to, so maybe scout one of those out!

Thanks for the suggestion, that sounds like a blast, although I wish there were a roller rink, I was pretty trashed on that at Coachella this year, fell on my ass a few times while skating around the dance party in the middle.

Also, what's the best kind of lighting that you've used for your campsite over the years? Any solar options?

We pretty much just relied on LED and propane lanterns last year, and I'll be bringing my propane one back again. We also have a couple RV's in our group so those will provide a little light outside of the windows.

I bought these awesome things to hang underneath my canopy. They're about 8 inches wide and run off of two AAA batteries. They're gonna look amazing in the dark!

Does the campground have any lighting of its own? Such as generator powered lights at intersections or the honeybuckets? Or is it pitch black and you should be carrying a flashlight at all times?

The honeybucket areas are lit and there are a few large floods surrounding the campground.

Haha my bad, I shouldn't have said "dark field." There are definitely plenty of lit areas. Each wash station, honey bucket cluster (honey clusters of oat? mmm), and some intersections are lit during the night. They introduced something called the Pivot, I think, last year, which is basically a group of food stands in the middle of the campground, and that area is well lit also.

If you go to the camping eqipment thread there are some examples of the solar lights people are using.
