Hey there, another Sasquatch first timer here with a question.
Since we're unable to leave the event grounds once we're in what kind of precautions do campers take back at the site? I assume locking anything of value in the car is a good bet...but what kind of security is watching the campground?
Thanks very much,
Jim

Due to the Boston Marathon tragedy. There will more visible security. There will be more police patrolling and presence. Also there will be more undercover police. Also FBI agents will be stationed in key areas. Best to listen and do as told by all security members. There will less tolerance of misbehavior than in past Sasquatch festivals.

Actually - Think it is newly relevant again. I have heard the security will be stepped up as well. Don't expect to be able to set your backpack down in the Banana Shack (El Chupacabra) and see it there in 15 min. Unattended bags will be suspect. There will be more careful screening of bags going into the event. But don't let this bother you as long as you don't try to take in cans of paint or something like that. Security is not looking for your stash of vodka or weed. They are looking at keeping people safe. As long as you are not a danger to yourself or others you should be fine. - And one more brief reminder: This is a private event. If someone asks to look in your bag and you pop off, "Go get a warrant" or any assertion of "rights" they may do just that, but you might wait in a holding cell until they do.

Why would you set your bag down unattended for 15 minutes in the first place? That would've been a dumb move long before Boston happened.

Crowell is right. People leave their backpacks unattended by the dance tent all the time. If you want to dance, it's not like you wear it so people won't take it. It is understood that everyone inside the venue won't fuck with your shit, and that all the thieves at the festival will be going through your tent back at the campground.

Last year the dance tent was wide/spaced out enough that I could always get close and have plenty of room to set my bag near my feet and I could dance uninhibited. I hope it's also that was this year.

The only experience I had with the tent last year was for James Murphy, and it was so tightly packed that it was almost hard to breathe. I kept my backpack on my back since there was basically no room on the ground in any direction. I know folks at Sasquatch are some of the nicest people on earth, but I still don't trust people there enough to leave my stuff and expect to see it there when I return.

I hate wearing a backpack on my back in a packed crowd. I'm always afraid someone is digging through my stuff on my back and I can't feel it. I always either hold it in my hand or wear it on the front if there's nowhere near my feet to set it.

I have that same fear, which is why anything of value gets stored under my sweatshirt/blanket and I'd easily be able to tell if someone was trying to go through my shit because those are generally heavy items, and the weight difference on my back would be obvious if those items were disturbed. I'm pretty OCD about thinking people are trying to steal my shit while I'm distracted, and if it even remotely feels like someone's trying to unzip one of the compartments I'll move my shoulders around. Better to be paranoid than get stuff stolen.
