They say on the website you arent allowed access once you leave, but lots of people did. The people camping beside us went to town for breakfast every morning.

Also, I wouldnt count on the same setup (meaning getting that overflow camping), it has changed every year I have been there.

I realize that each experience will be a new one, I just hope to get back to overflow camping again this coming year. If not, I will at least make absolutely sure I am parked close to an access point out of there. Being able to leave during the morning made the heat in the rest of the day bearable.

Can others who arrived on Saturday share their experience, i.e. did you have trouble getting a good camping spot? Also, are there certain times you can't drive in? For example, I plan on leaving Seattle first thing in the morning on Saturday, hopefully arriving by 9am. Will the gates (or whatever) for camping be open at that time? What time do the bands typically start playing?

Thanks in advance!

I was in overflow as well last year, I guess I wasn't aware how much more accessible it was compared to the regular campsites. I was always a Getty's Cove camper so last year was my first time camping at the Gorge...didn't have anything to compare it too. It definitely was very roomy and quiet, but the dust that got kicked up by the day parkers made it absolutely miserable. Our tents, cars, and even WE were covered in dust by the end of the weekend.

Gates should be open all night Friday into the day Saturday. I think you should be fine.

By the way, it looks like Premier camping is sold out already. I emailed Sasquatch to see if they would be releasing any more premier spots and I will keep everyone posted on what I hear.

Just heard back from Sasquatch. Premier camping is sold out. So if anyone has an extra premier camping spot they want to sell, send me an IM. Thanks.

Try Bonnaroo. The dust in 2006 was so bad that my buddy had to leave due to a horrible sinus infection. People were walking around wearing SARS masks!

Where do you go to buy camping tickets? I found the information link on the website but there is nothing to click on that takes you to actually buying the tickets.
