It was a massive rip-off and while the festival itself was excellent, the organizers should be ashamed of themselves for screwing festival goers out of their money for this sham of a "premier" campsite.
There was absolutely nothing "premier" about this campground. It was right next to the much cheaper general campground. In fact, if it weren't for a wire mesh fence and a 6-7 foot wide dirt road dividing the two sites, you couldn't have told the difference between the two camping sites. pooper to pooper camping, filthy toilettes and showers, absolutely no noise difference from the general site right next door and oh yeah, the shuttle bus that was supposed to let you in early didn't arrive until almost 2 hours after the festival gates opened on the first day!!
If you don't care about noise and want to party for 3 days then just get general admission camping. If you want a slightly quieter experience with clean toilettes and showers then book at the Wildhorse Campground. Everyone I met at the festival who stayed at Wildhorse said it was far superior and at $90 its about half the price of "Premier" camping. |

I agree, Premier camping was crap last year, which is why I complained to the organizer, who promised me they would have more showers this year (and also gave me 2 free premier campsites for my feedback). Premier is MUCH quieter and the bus ride there/back is nice. Also, Premier campers can go into general camping and party and go back to premier when they need piece and quiet. General campers cannot go to Premier at any time. My friends that stayed in General camping last year hated it b/c the noise never ends, and they are pretty avid partiers.
For Premier, unfortunately they overestimated how many people were coming last year and squished everyone into one area, then when they realized there was craploads of room left, people that arrived later got the prime spots with huge amounts of room, anyone could have moved to those spots if they wanted to.
Regarding the amount of people in a campsite. 2 years ago I emailed them about a month before the fest and they told me that we could just pay extra to have the 5th person stay in our site (I believe it was around $100). Anyone with 5 people should email them and print their reply and bring it with you. We had to argue for about half an hour to get the 5th person in b/c the people running the campsites have little/no involvement with the people putting it together, so there was a communication issue. But in the end they allowed us 5 people.
Hope that helps.

I just bought a premier camping spot and I was wondering if I can park my truck in the camping spot. The truck has a little camper top that we're going to convert into a bed and camp out in. I know that rvs are allowed but when you look at the truck it looks like a normal truck. Thanks for any information.

Also, is it possible to bring outside booze into the camping area? I'm assuming that we aren't allowed to bring alcohol onto the actual festival grounds (which is totally understandable) but I've heard that we can bring our own stuff to the campgrounds. I'm driving all the way from south Louisiana so I'm pretty unfamiliar with the festival and its rules. Thanks for the help!

yeah they let you have one vehicle per campsite, and alcohol is allowed within each campsite, they don't let you walk around with bottles though from what i hear.

I'm not here to argue with you, but I will say that I had a completely different experience in the Premier Lot. While the setups are the same, the parking spots are larger, and there's less people to Dr. Garbanzoht for showers (this plus is worth the money alone).
I actually DIDN'T like how quiet the Premier lot was. I was looking to party more and it was a lot of groups keeping to themselves. That's fine and all but not what I was looking for.
All of the grounds people were also extremely friendly and when I go back this year I wouldn't go without the Premier pass.

Yes they do.
On the other hand, is it even worth buying a camping pass after what happened last year? I didnt pay shit due to their "no one will be turned away" policy, granted I camped in the parking lot and had to walk 20 minutes to the normal campground but it was indeed free.

I stayed in premiere last year with two other people. We liked how it was much more quiet as the night grew later, but that we could still go party in regulal camping as much as we wanted. I never had an issue with walking around with booze either, no one gave me shit. Showers were bullshit last year, but I hope after reading some other posts that they will have more this year. We took the shuttle there and back the 2nd and 3rd days, but it seriously isn't that bad of a walk anyways. Is it worth it? Well for us it was, as we needed the quiet to rest up for the next day of intense heat. If they have more showers next year and maybe some other little incentives then it will be well worth it. Fingers crossed!

how long is the walk from regular camping? and does anybody have a site map? something that shows a general layout of the campground, festival site, parking lot, etc? I don't assume that changes much from year to year.

| Here is a shitty scan I did of last year's pullout map:

It was roughly a half a mile walk from the campground entrance to the festival gates. Not too hilly, but enough to get your balls sweaty.

Hey newbies! The walk ranges from 5 minutes to 45 minutes (depending on how many drunk people you're walking with). The campground is basically just a big open field and you get directed to park your car...so no exact "spaces" for everyone. Last year we got there on Saturday afternoon and were directed to camp in the actual parking lot, which was literally 2 minutes away from the box office. The year before that we got there Friday afternoon, and we were probably 5 minutes from the box office. So get there early or get there late and you will (hopefully) be super close. The walk is good for you though!

awesome. I've heard a lot of people complaining about the walk, and it really doesn't seem any worse than any walk I've had to take to a campground at a concert festival before.
My next question is: Do we have any idea approximately what time gates will open on Friday? I'm trying to Dr. Garbanzoure out a rough time I'm going to have to start the 13hr roadtrip to make it there shortly after the gates open.

Walk isnt that bad as mentioned, but taking the air conditioned bus is alot easier on the hot days for sure (and on the way back when you are tired as all hell).
Not sure where you are geographically, but regarding the drive...we left (Calgary) at around 10 am and made it to the campgrounds around 8-9pm to have just enough sunlight to set up our tent...worked out quite well. Keep in mind we had to wait a bit at the border, stopped a few times for gas/eat and also stopped at the grocery store in town to get groceries for the weekend.
