I've decided I'm never buying anything in Canada again. Even the cheapest and crappiest of those canopies start at $130.

Walmart in Spokane at 7am will happen once again if I make the trip this year.

Is this actually true? I want to start collecting some camping supplies.. But I don't want to end up paying more than I should.. Right now I don't have anything at all, but I've been reading extensively on the the subject on the Bonnaroo boards, so I know what I want to get.

It's a big deal around here... you go into work and someone who watched the news tells everyone and we all go around high-fiving each other and then have a group hug.

I guess that's what you do when you don't have Major League Baseball and you're only allowed to play Bryan Adams on the radio.

It may seem stupid but the currency watch is actually very important. I remember last I bought my tickets early and the dollar was like 0.84 US and then after the lineup it went to almost par. 16% change in price is fairly significant when you have limited funds. I had no idea Americans didn't keep track of that shit.

I keep track of currency exchanges if I need to (meaning if I'm going to another country etc.) otherwise, I don't really bother. For the most part I can expect the Euro to be worth more than a dollar, canada varies and elsewhere it can be a pretty good exchange rate.

Seriously? Let me help you readjust your perception so you don't have to be caught by surprise when this happens again:

Americans know that there is a country to the north of us, and it is called Canada.

It's a miracle if we can name a city other than Toronto. If we're hockey fans, maybe we can add the others (Ottawa, Edmonton, Montreal, etc.) but you're pushing your luck. It's not our fault Toronto decided to become internationally relevant by picking up the NBA and MLB.

You know what happens when Americans "keep track of" your currency? We learn that it's called the "Loonie," which Wikipedia confirms is a real thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loonie

And you know what happens when we learn that? We stop acknowledging your existence ALL OVER AGAIN.

Don't forget the Loonie's big brother, the Toonie!

By the way, I love this assessment.
